About Us

Simba Kite Kenya is a locally owned and operated Kite School, run by Isaac Mzwani and his family. We have over 20 years of collective experience teaching kiting on Jacaranda Beach. In 2023, we received certification as an IKO kiting school.

Simba Kite Kenya was founded following the death of my father in January 2023 and is named to honor his memory. He was nicknamed Simba because he was a pillar of community activism and an advocate for local land rights. He was an inspiring leader and we continue to advocate in his honor.

We care deeply for the ocean and our marine environment. Our team members love watching the turtles and dolphins play as we pass by on our kites! We conduct regular beach cleanups and try to educate the tourists that pass through about the unique features of Jacaranda waters. In the future, we plan to partner with marine conservation organizations to enhance our ability to monitor and protect the area. Karibu!!

I have a university degree in computer science and enjoy helping out at Explore Preparatory school with computer skills. I also offer coding and digital services (linked here). Duncan Mwazani

BUSINESS MANAGER & ASST. INSTRUCTOR

Hi, I’m Duncan, the second son in our family, younger to Isaac. I recently finished university studying petroleum science with a focus on the mining sector and water research. I have been an assistant kitesurfing instructor for 6 years helping my brother Isaac, and hope to get IKO certified soon. I love kiting because I can see all the ocean life - my favorite is to watch the dolphins playing around while kiting.

Hi, I’m Bryan, I am a university trained community health worker originally from Kisumu. I am a best friend of Isaac from University and am here for the season to support the launch of Simba Kite School. I love freestyle kiting and jumping in the air!

Hi, I’m Ibra, cousin to Isaac. I am an assistant instructor and a people person! I love laughing with my clients and watching people learn a new skill. My favorite part of kiting is jumping and zipping through the water.

We host students from around the globe of all skill levels. Our youngest client to date was 9 years and our oldest was 76 - this truly is a sport for everyone! Our instructors speak Kswahili, English and Italian.

Isaac is the best kite teacher in the whole of Watamu. Very friendly, patient and generous with his time. I got up on the board after two days with him. What’s more, he is one of the best kiters you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. Highly recommend!
